Our Frenchbeer turkeys are slowly grown, then slaughtered on farm, dry plucked and game hung to both enrich the breast meat and tenderise the leg meat. This process also makes sure there's fat under the skin, and because of game hanging, this moisture is locked in for cooking, resulting in deliciously moist breast meat. All of our Whole Turkeys and Turkey Crowns come with giblets in a separate bag and a pop-up timer.

Well-known for a rich flavour and tender, moist meat, these turkeys are reared slowly on a whole food diet by our farmer John on his family farm in Devon. Free to roam, foraging as they please and housed safely overnight in small groups, the care and attention put into rearing the birds results in a flavour like no other.

This is a raw product that must be cooked. Store below 3°C.
We always recommend using a meat thermometer and keeping an eye on the internal temperature, removing when it reads 75 degrees.

Calculating your cooking time: Allow 40 minutes per kilo, plus another 10 minutes.

Cooking times may vary depending on your oven. The timings below are for 1kg turkey legs:

1. Remove your turkey legs from the fridge 30 minutes before you want to cook them.
2. Check your label for the weight of your turkey legs. We deliver them at a minimum weight of 1kg for a pair, but in reality some individual legs can get as heavy as 1.5kg. Cooking times refer to the weight of each individual leg.
3. Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6.
4. Place the turkey legs on a roasting tray and season the skin generously with salt, pepper, and your choice of hard herbs or spices (we like to sprinkle some chopped rosemary on).
5. Roast the legs for 50 minutes, basting halfway through with the roasting juices. To check the meat is cooked, pierce the thickest part of the leg with a skewer and make sure the juices run clear.

This year only three of us for dinner so ditched the turkey and bought four turkey legs thinking one each and a spare !! Oh my goodness!! One leg fed three of us with meat left over .. so moist and incredibly tasty and incredible value … fed a house full on Boxing Day with the other legs !!

My 2nd year of getting these. I live alone, so even a small crown is a little big for me, as it was I gave part of the leg I air fried to my cousin (other leg is currently residing in the freezer). The thigh that I kept for myselt was large enough to have a little left over after dinner. It was very tasty & I may buy again next year.

As I am on my own I separated these and froze them. I cooked one as a small joint on Sunday and it was delicious, really moist and tender ( I prefer dark meat). There was enough left over for 2 more days, so I ate it cold one day and it was equally tasty. On the third day, I used the last bit in a casserole. I am freezing the bones to boil up for a stock to make soup. Please have these next year.
