Q&A with Anthony Watson

Local international rugby star Anthony Watson has just become a Field & Flower investor and ambassador. We’re so pleased Anthony has decided to join us and become a #FreeRanger. We sat down with Anthony to talk match day prep and discuss his all-time favourite cuts…

Q: How did you first hear about Field & Flower?

A: My agent made me aware of Field & Flower when they were only just establishing themselves as a business. We were looking for the best quality meat suppliers on the market as I wanted to increase the quality of my food intake. After trying their products and meeting James and James, I was hooked. I have been using their meat ever since and it’s even better that they’re local to Bath.

Q: What is it about the meat that makes it better than cuts you’ve had in the past?

A: I have just found that the flavour is far superior than what you would get in the supermarket. You can tell they take pride in the products they offer.

Q: Which is your favourite cut and why?

A: You can’t beat a fillet steak for favour and tenderness!

Q: Why do you think it’s important to buy ethically produced meat?

A: It’s important to know that the food you’re buying is sourced and treated right. I like knowing that Field & Flower take pride in the processes they go through, from breeding all the way through to delivery of orders.

Q: What is the best thing about Field & Flower’s meat boxes?

A: The meat boxes are great for me because they are convenient, simple and always allow me to be well stocked with good food! Diet is really important as a professional athlete obviously, but I’m also just a lover of good food, so it’s win win!

Q: What is your diet like around matchday?

A: On matchdays I try to avoid eating anything too heavy, so rarely eat meat before a game. It just means I’ve built an appetite up through the day and can make up for it after! During the week protein intake is key for recovery, so we get through lots of chicken and fish. I’m not a very good cook though, so it’s lucky my girlfriend knows her way around the kitchen better than I do!
